Bornstein Amphitheater | 2PM – 3PM
It turns out that your health is not just a product of your own genome. Rather, it is a collaborative effort between your genes and that of the hundreds of bacterial species that call you home. This ‘second genome’ exists in your gut, your skin, your lungs and even your breast milk and is being implicated in a range of human conditions from obesity to depression. What do we know about the microbiome and how can this understanding translate into patient care? In this session, BWH researchers explore these questions and more about the mystery that is the microbiome.
