The Brains Behind the Brain: 10AM – 11AM

Bornstein Amphitheater | 10am – 11am

The human brain’s 100 billion neurons and the 100 trillion connections between them define who we are as individuals. And when something goes wrong with this intricate set up, the very manner in which one experiences the world is devastatingly altered.  And this is the case with the 5 million Americans who live with Alzheimer’s and the 1.7 million every year who suffer from traumatic brain injuries. In this session, Drs. Selkoe and Zafonte reveal the latest research findings related to these neurodegenerative diseases and strategies to stem their insidious progression.
