BluePrint Celebration

What is BluePrint?

Brigham and Women’s Hospital has deep and rich roots in medicine. Because each of our predecessor institutions was established at different times, and all have their own unique legacies, there isn’t one founding date that aptly recognizes our history. Thus, we are celebrating the rich histories and many outstanding achievements of our predecessor institutions beginning in 2012, in recognition of the 180th anniversary of the founding of the Boston Lying-In, and continuing in 2013 and 2014 with the centennials of the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and the Robert Breck Brigham Hospital. This multi-year celebration is called “BluePrint: The Architecture of Innovation. Celebrating our History of Transforming the Future.”

BluePrint will feature special events, including the Second Annual Research Day at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on November 21, 2012. This unique day will highlight and celebrate our legacy of discovery and our future in research innovation. BluePrint in 2013 and 2014 includes a variety of other hospital-wide events – academic activities, public symposia, exhibits, special projects and festive social gatherings – that highlight our mission: clinical care, research, education and community outreach. The culmination of BluePrint will be the completion of the Brigham Patient Parking Garage and the Thea and James M. Stoneman Centennial Park at 15 Francis St. in 2014. All are invited to join us throughout the next 18 months as we celebrate our long history of leadership and achievement as one of the a premier academic medical centers in the country.
